Awesome icing recipe – gets firm, so designs don’t smudge.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Medium Consistency Icing

  • 2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 tsp powdered egg whites
  • 4 tbsp warm water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (or vanilla)

For Piping (thicker)

  • 2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 tsp powdered egg whites
  • 3 tbsp warm water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

For Flooding (thinner)

  • 2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 tsp powdered egg whites
  • 6 tbsp warm water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients.
  2. Beat on high, 5 minutes (electric stand mixer) or 10 minutes (hand mixer).
  3. When consistency is reached, store in airtight containers.
  4. Separate and add food coloring.
